    There’s been a shift in the past 5 years in gourmet dining. Instead of checking out the latest, (sometimes most expensive), new restaurants in town, people have been flocking (and running) after Food Trucks. From deep-fried everything to the most delicately crafted seafood dishes, you can enjoy just about everything and save a little money too. Who says being a cheap date is a bad thing?

    Coast Lunchbox is a food truck that just opened this spring in Victoria. They had a bump in the road with engine problems mid May that kept the truck in the shop for a week, but that didn’t slow them down.

    Their menu consists of ingredients that are 100% local, their meats are hormone and antibiotic free and their seafood is wild and sustainable. They change their menu often in order to utilize the freshest, in-season ingredients.

    One of their most popular dishes is Sesame Crusted Pacific Albacore Tuna Wrap. Seared rare with fresh kimchi slaw, pickled cucumbers & miso-scallion aioli. Tuna not your thing? Try the Korean BBQ Pork Wrap: Slow roasted, marinated pork shoulder, Coast coleslaw, pickled onions, cucumbers & miso aioli.

    You can find them in the parking lot of Dockside Green (356 Harbour Rd) Mon-Sat 11am-4pm, unless they’re rocking out a festival, which they have been doing quite frequently!

    They were featured at the Eat Street event last month, the Great Okanagan Beer Fest and most recently, Tall Tree Music Festival (where they may have saved a life or two by serving up some nutritional food).

    They will be one of many food vendors at the Victoria Street Food Festival starting today and again on July 10, 24 and 31 and you can give them a try at this year’s Rock the Shores!
