  1. The Fort Common

July 14, 2017 by Tessa Bousfield

If you’re a local in Victoria, it’s not often you don’t know of an incredible event or meeting space completely unique from the rest… but this one is good at staying hidden – a part of its charm.

The Fort Common is a revitalized brick carriage courtyard in the heart of downtown Victoria. A blank slate, this 3000 sq ft urban outdoor venue is located down an alley in between Starbucks and Be Love on Blanshard and Fort.

It’s open to the public in summer months during the day, making it a perfect spot to have lunch or hold a quick meeting. You can also book the space for events large and small, including family reunions, weddings, corporate retreats and large meetings.

The hidden location, paired with the exposed brick, lights, patio furniture and historic setting make this spot just about perfect. Did we mention it’s surrounded by some of the best food spots in town? Chorizo & Co, Fish Hook, Be Love, La Taquisa, Yalla,  Farm & Field Butcher and Discovery Coffee all surround the property!

If you’re interested in learning more about the space visit www.fortproperties.ca and check out their event guide here for pricing, access times, rules, etc.

To book the space, fill out the contact form.

  2. Hot, new restaurants whisking up in Victoria

July 7, 2017 by Tessa Bousfield

If you’re looking for a new spot for lunch with unique flavours, or a jaw-dropping, stunning bar worthy of “Victoria’s pretty cool” comments, pay attention.

A few renovations are taking place at this very moment and doors will be opening very soon:

    SUPERBABA
    Traditional flavours, modern servings
Superbaba has taken over the Pig’s old location on Blanshard and Johnson inside the Atrium. They’ll be cooking up some unique Middle Eastern spices and they’re already filling the block with their aromas! This quick service concept is by Tacofino, Cafe Medina, and The Dallah Menu.

They’re currently hiring and plan on opening sometime this summer. Click here for more info.

    FOXTROT, TANGO, WHISKEY BAR
    F.T.W.

Foxtrot, Tango, Whiskey has taken over the old Double’s Oyster Lounge in the Double Tree Hotel. This bar is backed by Shawn Soole who we’ve featured on the B-Side before (Past projects include Clive’s, Little Jumbo, Cafe Mexico and Clarke & Co). Also joining him are Shane Clarke and Jill Tulloch of Clarke & Co.

The vision is to bring 1950’s LA to Victoria, and they’ll have no problem doing that with local interior designer, Courtney Wilde.

We can’t wait for this place to open in a few short weeks!
