  1. The Victoria Tool Library

January 27, 2017 by Tessa Bousfield

In our consumer-driven world, it’s become a natural instinct for us to throw out the broken to make way for the new. Most of us aren’t going to rip open our broken toaster and start inspecting it, but that trend is starting to change with the Sharing Economy.

Airbnb is the most popular example, but there’s one organization right here in Victoria that’s nailed the sharing economy right on the head…

The Victoria Tool Library is a tool lending library serving Greater Victoria, where members can sign up to borrow tools from their inventory. Membership costs $50-$100 a year (sliding scale), and you can borrow tools from their Devonshire Rd. location Saturday’s between 10am and 2pm.

Obsessed with how-to videos and need a circular saw to get the job done?
Well, no need to go out and buy a new one, when you can just borrow it using your membership.

On the flip side, do you have a circular saw you rarely use?
Consider donating it to the Victoria Tool Library, and just borrow it back when you need it!

The library’s Grand Opening is February 4th. Visit VictoriaToolLibrary.org for more information and listen below as Dan Gunn explains in more details on the Zone at 91-3fm.
